The Blanc Double de Coubert rose is a classic rugosa rose beloved for its pure white, fully double blooms and intense, sweet fragrance. The large, ruffled flowers appear in early summer and continue to rebloom in waves through fall, creating an elegant and timeless display of beauty and scent.
This hardy, upright shrub typically grows 5-7 feet tall and wide, with deep green, heavily textured foliage that’s naturally disease-resistant and tolerant of salt, wind, and poor soils. In late summer, the plant often produces bright orange-red hips, adding ornamental and wildlife value after the flowers fade.
Exceptionally hardy in zones 3–7, Blanc Double de Coubert thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It’s cold-hardy, drought-tolerant once established, and extremely low-maintenance. A perfect choice for hedges, cottage gardens, or coastal landscapes, this rose offers old-fashioned fragrance, enduring toughness, and graceful beauty year after year.
Why Bare Root
The benefits of buying and planting bare root trees are extensive. Bare root trees are more cost effective and will typically reach their mature size quicker. They are easier to manage and plant due to not being established within a medium in a container. Bare root shrubs and trees will grow faster since they have 200% more root mass than that of trees purchased in a container or B&B. The plants are also not having to go through the adjustment period of acclimating to different soil conditions since they are not coming in a medium. For more information, please see CSU Extension Service’s “The Science of Planting Trees.”
Pickup for all Bare Root Plants will take place at The Shire at Old Ranch (3860 Old Ranch Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80908) on March 28th and 29th from 9:00am-5:00pm.
