The Lotty’s Love® rose from the First Editions® collection is a charming, cold-hardy rugosa-type shrub rose known for its deep mauve-purple blooms and strong, spicy fragrance. The semi-double flowers feature golden centers that glow against the richly colored petals, blooming continuously from early summer through frost for long-lasting garden appeal.
This upright, rounded shrub typically grows 3-3.5 feet tall and 3.5-4 feet wide, with rugged, dark green foliage that’s naturally disease-resistant, salt-tolerant, and cold-hardy. After flowering, it produces bright orange-red hips, adding fall and winter interest and attracting birds.
Hardy in zones 3–10, Lotty’s Love® thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It’s low-maintenance, winter-hardy, and ideal for hedges, borders, or mixed shrub plantings. A standout variety that combines rich color, fragrance, and resilience, Lotty’s Love® brings a touch of old-fashioned beauty and northern toughness to any landscape.
Why Bare Root
The benefits of buying and planting bare root trees are extensive. Bare root trees are more cost effective and will typically reach their mature size quicker. They are easier to manage and plant due to not being established within a medium in a container. Bare root shrubs and trees will grow faster since they have 200% more root mass than that of trees purchased in a container or B&B. The plants are also not having to go through the adjustment period of acclimating to different soil conditions since they are not coming in a medium. For more information, please see CSU Extension Service’s “The Science of Planting Trees.”
Pickup for all Bare Root Plants will take place at The Shire at Old Ranch (3860 Old Ranch Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80908) March 28th and 29th from 9:00am-5:00pm.
