The Lynwood Gold Forsythia is a classic spring showstopper, famous for its brilliant golden-yellow blooms that completely cover the branches before the leaves emerge. Bursting into color in early spring, it’s one of the first shrubs to signal winter’s end — a cheerful and reliable harbinger of the season.
This vigorous, upright shrub grows to about 5-7 feet tall and 7 feet wide, forming a dense mass of arching branches perfect for hedges, borders, or specimen plantings. Its bright green summer foliage provides a clean backdrop for other garden plants, and it responds well to pruning after flowering to maintain shape or encourage fuller growth.
Hardy in zones 5–8, Lynwood Gold thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, offering excellent cold and heat tolerance. Low-maintenance and fast-growing, it’s an ideal choice for gardeners seeking early-season color, structure, and dependable performance year after year.
Why Bare Root
The benefits of buying and planting bare root trees are extensive. Bare root trees are more cost effective and will typically reach their mature size quicker. They are easier to manage and plant due to not being established within a medium in a container. Bare root shrubs and trees will grow faster since they have 200% more root mass than that of trees purchased in a container or B&B. The plants are also not having to go through the adjustment period of acclimating to different soil conditions since they are not coming in a medium. For more information, please see CSU Extension Service’s “The Science of Planting Trees.”
Pickup for all Bare Root Plants will take place at The Shire at Old Ranch (3860 Old Ranch Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80908) March 28th and 29th from 9:00am-5:00pm.
